"BREAKER"
The trapeze artist Chelsea Bacon once heard a strange tale about a band of sea creatures which kidnaps the residents of a seaside villaage and drags them into the ocean. She was intrigued, but she was unable to track down the source of the story, so she's written her own version, which she describes as an aerial fairy tale. In this hour-long musical, the five cast members spend as much time above the stage as on it. "I'm interested in the emotional honesty that can be heightened by using an apparatus," the former circus performer explains, referring to, in this case, the trapeze, rope, window frame, rocking chair, and cargo net that she's hung in the air. "The only place I feel truly comfortable," she adds, "is off the ground." (Dixon Place at Vineyard 26, at 309 E. 26th St. 532-1546. March 23 at 8 and March 24 at 3 and 8.)
